Our 17 Best Places in Nørrebro, Copenhagen

Shopping

Nørrebro is a shopper’s paradise with the happening streets Jærgersborggade, Elmegade and Ravnsborggade bursting with independent shops.

Round the corner from Ravnsborggade you’ll find the antique shop Dahl Antik selling pretty much everything under the sun. Music lovers will find vinyls and CDs galore at Route 66, selling over 50,000 second hand records.

On Griffenfeldsgade, Depanneur have taken the French-canadian convenience store and given it a hipster twist in a European first. In need of anything at all? Depanneur have you covered. From toothpaste to a beer, a magazine to a cup of coffee – this is our top recommended shopping experience in Copenhagen.

Coffee

At the bustling Props Coffee Shop you feel in the thick of the action and there’s a great outdoor area, perfect for sunny days. At the top of Jægersborggade overlooking Nørrebro Park is Coffee Collective, a chic stalwart of the Copenhagen coffee scene designed to feel “like a nice Nørrebro apartment”.

Food

The shinning star of Nørrebro dining is the unpretentious Michelin starred Relae on Jægersborggade. An ethical focus and simple dishes that pack a punch, this restaurant regularly features on ‘best restaurants in the world’ lists.

Dining at Bryghus is like dining in a brewery. These beer lovers cook up some excellent fare, with a dedicated ‘beer kitchen’, cooking with the beer and balancing your food with the perfect pairing.

For veggies and vegans, Relae’s sister restaurant Manfreds, or the laid back vegan Cafe N, are just the ticket. If you’re short on time, make like a local and grab a pizza at NonSolo Pizza, made by real life Italian pizzaioli dedicated to their craft.

Bars & nightlife

Nighttime is when Nørrebro really comes into its own. There are tonnes of bars to start your night such as the local staple Temple Bar, the organic focussed Harbo Bar and the lively Pussy Galore’s Flying Circus. Afterwards head either to Lygten Station, an abandoned railway station turned theatre, comedy and music space, or catch a film at the disarmingly stylish Empire Bio.

For those looking to see the truly underground Copenhagen scene, head to the abandoned warehouse hosting Bolsjefabrikken, a non-profit cultural association with coffee and board game nights, concerts and workshops. For the night owls looking to party, Rust is a club and music venue on three floors that will see you through till day break.
